Every year, the Community Relations Committee in the Las Conchas neighborhood gets together and offers a place for kids to experience a good old fashioned Halloween.
With the assistance of the local security team, lines form in anticipation of the 4pm start time. A parking lot full of folding tables, covered with candy and school supplies, waits. Local residents man the tables, mostly decked out in their own spooky garb.
Groups of kids and parents file through till the sun goes down, or the candy runs out. Actually, there is always a good amount of goodies. so no one goes away empty handed. This year the estimate of kids at the Las Conchas Halloween event is over 3,ooo! Thats a lot of Snickers bars!
