England based Cruise and Maritime Voyages has postponed the inaugural trip of the ship Astoria. Originally set for 3 voyages departing Rocky Point in December 2019, the first cruise will depart on January 2nd.
Company spokes person Marlene Oliver stated that “We would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this decision will cause to those passengers booked”.
Astoria is a well loved cruise ship with a classic, more intimate design. Returning from it’s current route, the ship will require a longer dry dock time than anticipated before crossing the Atlantic. Hence the delay for the Treasures of the Sea of Cortez cruise series, now staring at the beginning of 2020.
Passengers on the rescheduled dates have been offered the choice of departing on later cruises, or receiving a refund.
The route through the Sea of Cortez will be oriented to adult travelers, and will visit notable locations such as Loreto, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, and more. The cruises last 11 days.
