Good news for those of us with, uh, memory issues. Starting August 3rd, calling from any Mexican phone will be dead simple. Just 10 digits, whether you are trying to reach a local cell, landline, or even any long distance number.

No dialing a seperate prefix for landline vs cell. For example, any Rocky Point number would be 638-111-2222. Whatever the 10 numbers are for anywhere in Mexico, that is all that you have to dial.

Calling Mexico from the US will still require dialing the country code, +52, first.

Keep your fingers crossed. Come August 3rd, we will see how things actually shake out.
