Colin’s Cantina serves up the largest variety of beers in Northern Mexico
As the first restaurant to really get behind the recent boom in Mexico’s micro- brewery scene, Puerto Peñasco’s Colin’s Cantina leads the way in showcasing the finest new beers the country has to offer. With the addition of Cabo’s Baja Brewing Company to the menu, Colin’s gains the distinction of having the widest selection of brands and individual beers anywhere in the state of Sonora.
Already known as Mexico’s Napa Valley for producing most of the country’s wine, Northern Baja is now the epicenter of the growing craft beer movement. Taking their cue from nearby San Diego, local breweries in Tijuana and Ensenada are producing IPA’s, Wheat Beers, and Stouts that are showing up on menus in the U.S. as well as Mexico.
Eight brews from Ensenada’s Cervezeria Wendlandt are in Colin’s beer fridge. Wendlandt has the distinction of recently being awarded ‘Best Brewery’ in this year’s prestigeous Cerveza Profesional de México Competition. Tijuanas’ Media Perra beers are there as well. The newest additions are the beers of Baja Brewing Company out of Cabo San Lucas at the southern tip of Baja. Together with offerings from Tecate and Dos Equis, and Sol, the bar at Colin’s Cantina is the place to taste the full flavor Mexicos’s beers.
Puerto Peñasco, also called Rocky Point, is home to Colin’s Cantina. A one hour drive south of the U.S. Border, Rocky Point is the nearest beach destination for Arizona and New Mexico. Colin’s is located in the Princesa de Peñasco, one of the citiy’s most well established Resorts. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is known for traditional favorites as well as more original offerings (Pecan Jalapeño Pancakes, Maple Bacon Margaritas).
