This past Saturday saw some of Rocky Point’s talented folks come together for the Nancy Springer Art in the Park. This yearly event features local artisans and their crafts. On display were driftwood Christmas trees, funky retro clothing, recycled art from old tires, and a lot more. Throw live music, food, and drink into the mix, and you’ve just found one of the fun things to do in Rocky Point over the holiday season.
Art in the Park takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year. The park in Las Conchas, where it all happens, welcomes larger and larger crowds as time goes by. A cool but sunny afternoon was the setting for some pre-Christmas gift shopping, just two blocks from the beach.
Strolling shoppers were entertained by dancers from the Academy dance studio, Jessie Gerardo and Josh Ellis on guitars and vocals, as well as singer Luis Lugo and others.
Organized by the Las Conchas Community Relations Committee, Art in the Park benefits a number of charity programs that the group oversees.
