Local Jazz great Armando ‘Kennedy’ Noriega performs new works at the 2015 International Cervantino Festival in Puerto Penasco.
This month we saw a return of the International Cervantino Festival to Rocky Point. This was the only event in Northern Mexico that was a an extension of the Cervantino Festival, one of Latin America’s largest annual cultural events.
Known Locally as the long time owner of the Lighthouse Restaurant, Armando Noriega currently put the restaurant world aside to consentrate on his music. Mr. Noriega is known as one of the most succesful studio musicians working in Mexico City as well as Hollywood. His resume includes years of live shows, as well as arranging on sessions for everyone from Roberta Flack to Jose Jose.
His current project allows him to concentrate on writting new Jazz material. In a project named Kennedy, Don Armando has brought together local talents to help him bring his music to life. Along with Armando Noriega on Saxophone, the group includes Ricardo Rivera on Guitar, Armando ‘Chico’ Noriega an drums, Roberto Mendoza guitar, Francisco Garcia bass, and Richard Scott on Trombone and vocals.
