The Malecon has seen the installation of 60 plus parking meters, the first of more than 100 to come. The meters will be in operation by February. The cost is .17 pesos, or 1 dollar an hour. The meters will accept change in both currencies.
Run by a private company, 20 percent of the proceeds for the meteres will go to support the local DIF social services agency. The company will be responsible for helping keep things clean on the Malecon.
