…as in the song ‘Banditos’ by the Refreshments (circa 1996). You may be familiar with this bars’ previous incarnations as The Hut, and Changos, but as of 2014 the place is reborn and renamed by the guy who wrote the song in the first place, Roger Clyne.
New owner Roger Clyne brings that special Peacemakers vibe, evident at the recent Circus Mexicus XXIII concerts, played right across the street. Located along Paseo de Las Palmas, the road that snakes around the resorts on Rocky Points’ Sandy Beach, Banditos is a big two story palapa with stages inside and out, ready for live music.
Weekends find Classic Rock dished out by Riband, guys who seem to be on a mission to get everyone up and dancing. Roger Clyne himself has appeared a few times since the opening, playing solo sets announced at the last minute that somehow manage to fill the place to over flowing.
Out front, a nice sand covered deck is the place to pass a Saturday afternoon, drink in hand under palm leaf umbrellas. As you might expect, Clynes’ Mexican Moonshine Tequila is in heavy rotation at the bar.
Banditos is open seven days a week and is easy to find, just walking distance from the Sonoran Spa and Sonoran Sea Resorts.
