The date is set! Rocky Point Rally 2014 roars into town on November 6th through 9th. Bikers and their rides rule the streets and turn places like Calle 13 and the Malecon into a wall to wall party. Tires squeel, beeds are thrown, anatomy is exposed. Some trailer-in their show bikes, while others get here at the end of an epic road trip (kudos goes to those who have come from as far as Canada). However they arrive, the vibe from 5000 or more bikers lights up the town with a wild and exciting spirit. Call it semi-organized chaos.
Rocky Point has always been a place to break out of the same old routine. The 300 lb., shaved head, cigar chomping, dragon tatooed bad-dude and his petite ‘old lady’ wearing leather chaps, dread locks, and a pink bikini with skull and cross-bones on her…back, well, they might be real estate brokers back home in Marana. Here at the Rally, everyone is out to let their hair down and share a good time.
Details are still being filled in, but you can count on the big beach concert Saturday night to be a high point. Calle 13 and the Malecon see a lot of action too with burn out contests, un-official bar crawls, and a non-stop parade of bikes all weekend. Upstairs at places like Boo Bar and Shark Bites, partyers pole dance, drink shots from the bellies of friendly strangers, and throw beads like it was Mardi-Gras.
A big part of the crowd always includes those who are not bikers, but just come for the fun, the great weather, and a chance to mix with the invariable cool people who attend this event. Charity is in the mix as always. Proceeds raised at the most recent Rally were given out to 7 local organisations that help those in need.
