Sunday is The Super Bowl. Saturday, it’s The Fish Bowl! All of the best Seafood places in town are getting together to offer samples of Coconut Shrimp, Ceviche, Oysters, and more.
The Fish Bowl is happening in the Plaza Camaron (Shrimp Park), right in the heart of the city. The Rotary Club is organizing this new event, and the hope is that it will become a tradition. As you may know, Rotary Clubs are great for doing helpful stuff in whatever community they are in. Rocky Point’s Club is small, but keeps getting national recognition for having a big impact with the projects that they do.
Expect to see Blue Marlin Restaurant, Mare Blu, Colin’s Cantina, and more. Popular Seafood vendors 3 Boys will be on hand selling seafood by the kilo too.
Cost: It’s one of those events where you buy tickets, then exchange them at the different food and drink booths. Prices at the booths will range from 1 – 3 dollars for each item. There will also be beer, Margaritas, Bloody Mary’s, as well as soft drinks.
Where and When: Shrimp Park is located across from City Hall, at the intersection of Benito Juarez and Fremont Blvd.
10am to 4pm
Live Music: Yes. Latin Dance music with a sprinkling of ‘Gringo’ tunes from the group Los Hijos de Maurico (that’s a mouthful! They play at Changos), the Ballet Folclorico Dance troop from the University, Singer and Saxophonist Richard Scott (who plays at Satisfied Frog), and New Mexico Singer/Songwriter Stacy Joy.
Really good Raffle too! Lots of donated prizes, and you can choose which ones to buy tickets for. Just place your ticket in the correct, you guessed it, Fish Bowl.Prizes will include…

The Fish Bowl has joined forces with the Mermaids Market as well. The Mermaids brings local arts and crafts makers to the park once a month. Together, the park will be jammed full of cool things to see and do.
Proceeds from the event are to further the local Rotary Club’s social service activities across the community and participation in Global Grant possibilities.  For more info, check them out at:  Club Rotario Mar de Peñasco A.C.  or online: www.clubrotariopuertopenas.com
The local Rotary Club holds two principal fundraising activities yearly, including the October “World’s Greatest Meal” in support efforts to eradicate polio across the globe (one of Rotary International’s main areas of focus), and now the Fish Bowl!  See you there!
