Bryan’s Sports Bar

t seems that the minimum requirement to call a place a ‘sports bar’ is a couple of big TV’s and a subscription to HBO. That can work out fine – after all, you just want to watch the game and have a beer. But a real sports bar is all about sports, and not just as an add on. Sports fans become the regulars in a place like that, and everything from the menu to the decor immerses you in the vibe. One place that gets it right is Bryan’s Sports Bar.

When you walk into Bryan’s you are greeted by walls covered in Sports memorabilia. TV’s are all around, with a huge one over the big bar area. Sit anywhere, and it’s easy to find a comfortable viewing angle. This is helped by the fact that all tables and chairs are tall – you don’t have to crane your neck to look around others watching the game. Lots of small tables are used, making it easy to configure a space for a group of friends to share the excitment, no matter the size of the group.

Of course Bryan’s has subscriptions to all of the sports channels, and big events are ready to go well in advance, so there are no technical surprises. Multiple TV’s make it easy for more than one event to be playing at the same time. The waitresses are friendly and efficient, and they have a nack for catching you when you are ready to order your next cold one. There is a good selection of beer, with a good variety on tap.

The menu here is a nice mix of full on meals as well as finger food just right for plopping down at a table full of fans. There are Jalepeno poppers, pizza, pop corn chicken, and fish and chips. The options for burgers is large, and Bryan’s really is one of the best places in town to get one. Popular specials include $1 dollar Sliders on Mondays, and Hot Wings on Wednesdays that invariably packs the place, game or no.

I visited Byan’s in 2010, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Great place to catch a U.S.sports game if one is on while you are in Rocky Point.
