Want to break a world record? Rocky Point will be the host for it’s 1st International Salsa Festival, coming up on August 27th. The folks from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to count heads, or should I say, dancing feet.
Festival organizers are looking to set the record for the most couples dancing to the same salsa moves together.
Want to be one of those counted? Not a seasoned ‘Salsero’? No problem, a class has been set up for those who want to dance their way into Rocky Point history.
Monica Torres will lead you through the steps in an August 20th class. Spend the afternoon making the clave rhythm a part of your soul, then bust a move starting at 9pm when DJ Voss takes over for the full on Latin dance party.
The class costs 300.00 pesos, and will be given at the Hotel Peñasco del Sol Ballroom. The 1st Puerto Peñasco Salsa Festival features the music of Carlos Rivas and the Mex Sal Orchestra, along with Puerto Rican vocalist Luisito Rosario.
