Strike up the marching band! Today at 10:30am, the first passengers from Aerolinea TAR disembarked at the Mar de Cortez International Airport in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico.

The regional airline has added routes to Penasco from Hermosillo, Ciudad Juarez, as well as Tijuana why not check here. Today was the first of the regularly scheduled flights that will land here every Thursday and Sunday.

As the aircraft door opened on today’s first flight, the Cities Marching Band began to play. The first passengers to come down the stairs where greeted by various dignitaries. On hand where Mayor Ernesto ‘Kiko’ Munro, First Lady Linda Pivac de Munro, the Coordinator General of COFETUR, J. Antonio Berumen Preciado, Hector Vasquez of the OCV (Office of Visitors and Conventions), as well as others.

The Governor of the Tohono O’Odham peoples of Northern Mexico, Servando Leon, welcomed the new visitors. Manuel Erebes, Director of the Tohono O’Odham, was there also. He and others presented dream catchers made by the Tohono O’Odham.

Future connections are planned through TAR Airlines that will bring Rocky Point closer to more of Mexico’s travelers.
