Cruise ship Astoria, of Cruise and Maritime Voyages, returned to it’s Rocky Point Home Port after it’s third outing with the Treasures of the Sea of Cortez itinerary.

Travelers visited ports including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Loreto, and more. This third cruise is the last of the season, and the last scheduled at this point. It remains to be seen if the cruise line will continue the voyages next year. The ship itself, the Astoria, appears to be set for trips in Europe this coming Fall. After that, word is that the ship wil be retired from service.

The cruise line may opt to replace the Astoria with another of it’s fleet, and continue cruising the Sea of Cortez. No word at this time about a decision.

Tose who took the voyage generally found the less travelled destinations interesting, and those greeting them at the vasrious ports to be truly enthusiastic in making them welcome.

Either way, those who were part of the Astoria’s tenure in Puerto Peñasco can always say that they were part of the towns history.

After passengers exited the ship this morning, Astoria departed, begininning her trip back to Europe.
